Boys Versus Girls

“Donald, try to call Chet and Jay and tell them to come here,” my brother asked my cousin.
“Don’t free them while I’m gone,” he said as he ascended the stairs.
“Don’t worry about that,” Andrew laughed.
A few minutes later, Donald came back.
“Well?” David asked.
“They’re coming,” said my cousin.
“Where were they?” I asked.
“At home,” Donald replied.
“Figures,” I said.
“Well, let’s remove those gags, shall we?” Andrew suggested.
“Why?” asked David. “They should be gagged for the rest of the day.”
“I want to know what exactly happened,” my older brother reasoned as he ungagged Angela. We helped him ungag the rest of the girls.
“You just got lucky,” Angela said as soon as she could talk. “If the twins didn’t go fishing yesterday, we would’ve gotten you good! By the way, where were you yesterday, Frank?”
“Oh we visited some relatives at the next town,” Frank answered.
“See? It’s just dumb luck!” Angela affirmed from Frank’s reply.
“Well, we may be lucky, but we won! And you are going to be tied up for two days!” I said.
“Two days! Will you really tie us up for two days?” Betty asked.
“Sister, you were the one who came up with the idea!” I countered.
“Oh yeah,” my sister sheepishly said. “Well, I thought we would win.”
“Thanks a lot, Betty,” said Nancy sarcastically.
“Well, I thought we were going to win! Angela said we’re a shoe in!” Betty replied.
“We would’ve won! They were just lucky!” Angela replied.
“Why, are you going to back out?” David laughed.
“No,” said my sister. “We lost fair and square.”
“We’re not scared,” said Angela.
“So you’re really gonna do it?” Frank asked.
“Of course,” said Angela.
“How about the rest of you?” Andrew asked.
“I’m in,” said Nancy.
“Me too!” Cathy seconded.
“You wouldn’t even last a day!” David challenged.
“We would!” his sisters replied in unison.
“How about you, Louise?” I asked.
“A bet’s a bet, I guess,” she said.
“Maggie?” Donald asked his sister.
“Why not? We haven’t done it this long before,” she replied. “Who knows? It might be fun!!”
Of course, none of us believed that it would actually last two days. We boys believed that they would quit before it’s over, and the girls believed that we boys would actually let them go before it’s over without them prompting us to do so. The question was who would cave in first.
“Well I believe that you’re going to quit before it’s over!” Andrew said. “You could not stand it!”
“Yeah! You’re going to demand to be untied before it’s over, because we all know, girls are not that tough!” I added.
“Oh yeah? We won’t quit!” Angela replied. “We’re tough!”
“And I’ll bet that you’ll let us go before the two days are over,” my sister said. “You couldn’t stand us being tied up that long!”
“And you’ll let us go without any prompting from us,” Nancy added. “You’d just feel sorry for us, and you’ll let us go after five or six hours. And we won’t quit because you’ll give up because you won’t want to get into trouble!”
Both sides wouldn’t budge, so it became a matter of wills.
“So, are you gonna untie us now?” Louise asked as soon as the argument died down.
“Um, let me think. No,” my brother replied.
“Oh c’mon!” Angela whined.
“You tied us up the entire day yesterday!” I replied.
“You already won!” whined Maggie. “We only kept you that long because we haven’t won yet!”
“One more peep about that and I’ll gag all of you,” my brother threatened.
That ended all their whining about wanting to be free. Instead, we talked about other things instead.
A few minutes later, Chester and Jay arrived. They were amazed at what happened.
Anyway, all of us began telling each other what exactly happened that day.
The account below was what I pieced together from what they told me.
***
After the girls’ failure to catch all of us the previous day, they made their plans to capture us the next day. They didn’t make any changes to what they did. They assumed that we only avoided defeat because of dumb luck (of which I agreed). They didn’t think that Frank and Chester and Jay would be gone for the whole day.
So they planned to wake up earlier than us boys, and catch us at bed, like they did the day before.
However, my brother, Donald, and I slept on our hideout in the wooded hill, and that spoiled their plans. By the time Betty had tried to phone Angela, Angela had already gone to bed, sleeping early so that she can easily wake up at the crack of dawn and get her brother.
Henry knew it, so he planned to wake up early to counter her. Unfortunately for him, his mind might be willing, but his body was not. He set an alarm, and simply shut it off and went back to sleep when it woke him up.
Henry woke up instead to his sister Angela squirting him in the face. He was so sleepy that Angela, after tying him up and gagging him, allowed him to go back to sleep.
Angela then received a call from Betty telling her of the bad news—I, Donald, and my brother were not home. So they went to get David.
Three of them, Maggie, Angela, and Betty went to David’s house. There was a shootout. David got Angela and Maggie, but Betty shot him afterwards and captured him. Then they discovered Cathy and Nancy all tied up and tightly gagged in David’s room because David was the one who woke up earlier. They freed the sisters, and tied up David. They decided that they would use Maggie’s basement as their prison. So they marched David to Maggie’s basement and left his two sisters as his guard.
Maggie, Angela, and Betty went back to Angela’s house, and there, they were joined by Louise. They discussed their next step. They first sent Louise and Maggie to bring the already captured Henry over to Maggie’s basement. Maggie and Louise marched Henry to my Uncle’s basement using the path through the forest. However, as already mentioned, we managed to intercept them and capture Maggie and Louise.
None of this was known to Betty, and Angela, however. Betty saw Frank with a loaded pistol approaching Angela’s house, alone.
Frank had no female siblings living with him, so there was no chance that he would be captured in a similar manner to the others. However, he had no idea what had happened to the others. After he and his family returned yesterday night, he called David and David told him the events of the previous day. So, when, during that morning, he tried calling the other boys to ask about what the plans were, and he got no response from any of us, he assumed that we were captured and that we were held in Louise’s basement.
So he went to Louise’s place. Angela’s house was next door to Louise’s so he decided to capture Angela first before going in and trying to rescue us. He knocked on the door. Mrs. Dale, Angela’s mother let him in and told him that Angela was upstairs in her room. Frank ran up and shot Angela. It turned out that he had walked into a trap, because as soon as he started to tie Angela up, Betty emerged from her hiding place and shot Frank.
So they tied up Frank, and they decided to march him to Maggie’s basement. However, we were waiting, and we managed to capture Betty and Angela, and thus, win the game in our favour.
That’s why Angela was so disappointed. In her mind, she already caught three of us. Things were going so well for them that she didn’t consider the possibility of actually losing.
As for Chester and Jay, they slept late, and they woke up late, about ten thirty. The game was practically over by that time, and they were extremely surprised when they learned from Donald that we caught all of the girls.
In retrospect, the reason for our win was the path between my house and Donald’s house on one hand, and Angela and Louise’s house on the other. That path was overused as a conduit of bound captives during the summer because it was too hot and too impractical to cover our captive’s bonds in thick clothes. So all we had to do was to hide in the bushes besides the path, and sooner or later, they would be passing by to march one captive from one house to another.
After that, we untied them all for lunch. We ate lunch at my Uncle’s house, before my brother and I went home with the bags from the camping trip that we should have brought home hours ago.
So ends the tale of the game to determine who will be tied up for two days.
But things weren’t so simple. What constitutes two days? Does it mean only the daylight hours, or also the night? Should they be tied up only a few hours during each of the two days, or continuously? And are the two days consecutive, or could they be broken up, like the first day being Monday, then the second day Thursday?
And what of the six girls? Could they really stand being our captive for that long? And would they be tied up together in one place at the same time, or would we tie them up piecemeal?
We didn’t think of those questions in those glorious hours. We only thought about tying them up again. It would arise as the task of actually implementing their captivity became quite a challenge.
How did we deal with it? And did we really tie them up for two days?
Read the next part and find out!
Note: That’s it! I’ll probably post the next story, probably my last for a while, within two weeks. And if you have to ask, it’s about the two days that the girls would be tied up as a result for losing the game.
